CT Greenhouse Gas Inventory: 1990 – 2001 (2006 update)
This inventory was compiled in accordance with Section 22a-200b(f) of the CT General Statutes, which was amended in 2008. The inventory was compiled using output from the US Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) GHG Inventory Tool.
DEP compiled this comprehensive inventory of GHGs in Connecticut using a “top down” methodology. The data is based on the output from the May 2006 version of EPA’s GHG Inventory Tool. This tool relies upon macro-scale aggregate data from the transportation, energy, agriculture, waste storage and treatment, and industrial sectors from sources such as the United States Department of Energy (US DOE), the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the EPA. Estimated GHG emissions are calculated based on summary data for GHG sources including, but not limited to, fossil fuel consumption, waste storage, and livestock population.
This GHG inventory includes one additional year of data beyond the previously compiled inventory. The limited nature of the update is due to the unavailability of the energy sector data required by the EPA GHG Inventory Tool.
