    Interreligious Eco-Justice Network

    IREJN, Connecticut’s Interfaith Power and Light affiliate, is a statewide network of nearly 550 congregations promoting environmental stewardship and advocacy among people of diverse faiths. In addition to their advocacy for climate protection and clean energy, IREJN stewardship classes’ have resulted in 56 congregations making up to 50% reductions in energy use. IREJN also organizes energy audits at congregant’s homes and businesses.

Yale Center for Business and the Environment - Programs and events to support business sustainability.

CT Green Building Council - A non-profit organization that seeks to improve the quality of life in Connecticut through the promotion of intelligently designed and constructed high performance energy efficient buildings. The Council sponsors workshops on green building topics, networking opportunities, membership meetings, educational forums, seminars on green buildings and periodic CT based LEED training in connection with the US Green Building Council.

Support Clean Commuting Options

Transportation contributes to almost 40% of the greenhouse gas emissions from Connecticut.  Many companies have very successful programs to reduce the number of employees driving alone to work. The programs include telecommuting, ride sharing, public transit, and shuttles and help reduce traffic congestion and employee stress while improving air quality.  The following programs can help your business get started:

Telecommute Connecticut - A statewide initiative providing free assistance to CT employers with the design, development and implementation of telecommuting as a worksite alternative.

Connecticut Commuter Services - Free consulting services to improve commuter mobility to help sustain the growth and vitality of our economy and make the state more competitive in the employment marketplace. Call 1-877-CTRIDES (1-877-287-4337) to speak with a CT Commuter Services Representative.

Transit and ride sharing information- Information on carpools, vanpools, buses, shuttles, and trains.

NuRide- A carpool matching service that provides rewards to participants when they carpool, vanpool, bike, walk, telecommute or take public transit.

Best Workplaces for Commuters - An innovative membership program that provides qualified employers with national recognition and an elite designation for offering outstanding commuter benefits, such as free or low cost bus passes and vanpool fares and strong telework programs.  View businesses recognized in CT.

Save Money Through Energy Efficiency

The CT Energy Efficiency Fund provides support for small and large businesses on energy efficient design and construction, load response programs, efficiency rebates for lighting, HVAC, refrigeration, motors, and operation and management,  and lots more.

Support Clean Energy

Connecticut businesses are supporting clean energy from the electrical grid through the CT Clean Energy Options program.

The Connecticut Clean Energy Fund also provides financial support for clean energy installations such as solar thermal, geothermal, fuel cells, and solar photovoltaic panels.

Supermarket Industry – The GreenChill Advanced Refrigeration Partnership is an EPA cooperative alliance with the supermarket industry and other stakeholders to promote advanced technologies, strategies, and practices that reduce refrigerant charges and emissions of ozone-depleting substances and greenhouse gases.

Hospitals - The Connecticut Hospital Environmental Roundtable provides a setting for hospitals to learn from each other by sharing ideas, presenting success stories, keeping up-to-date on available resources and discussing issues that affect the health care industry.

CT Climate Change Leadership Award - The Governor’s Steering Committee on Climate Change annually recognizes businesses, organizations, and individuals that have taken exemplary action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and adapt to climate change.
