Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions – Mitigation

windMitigation refers to efforts to stabilize the climate by drastically reducing emissions of greenhouse gases.  Here are some of the highlights of Connecticut’s mitigation initiatives:

  • Connecticut’s greenhouse gas inventory provides a baseline for CT’s aggressive greenhouse gas reduction targets.
  • Connecticut law requires the state to reduce greenhouse gases by 10% by 2020 and 80% by 2050.
  • Attaining these goals will require strong commitment from our leaders and actions by every sector of society.  Learn about actions for homes and individuals, businesses, towns, etc.
  • Meet Connecticut’s climate heroes, the many people and organizations contributing to Connecticut’s leadership and progress on climate action.
